William R. Sell

Bill Sell has over 33 years in events and media management. and is the Managing Partner with Advisor Communications in Framingham, Massachusetts, a brand development and lead generation agency.

Currently Bill works closely with event clients providing strategic guidance and brand positioning.

Most recently he was overseeing The Pulse Network’s (formerly CrossTech Media and CrossTech Forums) hosted events program group. The Pulse Network’s portfolio included e-newsletter publications, ITo2o: Online-to-Offline, and Inbound Marketing Summit conferences. Bill was also on air host and editor of The Pulse Network web TV shows ITEC/ITo2o This Week and New Marketing TV, along with management of key strategic alliances and business development on TPN’s Webinar 3.0 program.

Bill’s past leadership experience includes being a Vice President and General Manager of COMDEX in Las Vegas, the development and launch of CeBIT America, and the VON events with responsibilities for audience development, program creation and event sponsorships and sales. Bill also served as the Vice President of Events with Fidelity Investment’s Fidelity Capital/Seaport World Trade Center Boston; and as VP of Planning and Development at IDG’s World Expo, with ComNet and MacWorld Expo as two of the key product groups.

A frequent industry speaker on benefits of face-to-face marketing, Bill is a founding member of the Society of Independent Show Organizers and past chair of the New England chapter of the International Association for Exhibitions and Events.

Bill has worked with Microsoft, Oracle, Palm/Handspring, IBM, Digital Equipment Corp/Hewlett Packard, Sun Microsystems and Fidelity Investments.


Chris Brogan

Chris Brogan is President of Human Business Works. He has almost 12 years’ experience in social media, having started blogging back in 1998 when it was called “journaling.” Chris has since gone on to work with several Fortune 500 companies on understanding how to implement actionable social media efforts for their businesses. Chris is a professional speaker, a New York Times bestselling author, and has worked with countless companies including General Motors, PepsiCo, Sony, MolsonCoors, Microsoft and Citrix Online to help with marketing, business strategy, communications, and more. He lives in Northern Massachusetts.

Carl Ford

Carl is a Partner and the Community Developer with Crossfire Media, and he is known throughout the IP Communications community for his ability to connect people (and, thus, businesses); be it in formal conference settings or through the well-planned serendipitous encounter.

From 1997 to 2008 Carl focused on the development and cultivation of Pulvermedia’s IP Communications Community. In his role as V.P and Community Developer for Pulvermedia, Carl played a key role in developing all content and securing Industry leading speakers for Pulvermedia’s flagship IP Communications event, VON. Carl’s contribution to the VON program during its 11 year tenure was a major contributor to the success of this long running event, his broad based knowledge of IP Communications along with his witty approach to session moderation, often made for a lively, informative Conference Session, not often found at other events. Prior to Pulvermedia, Ford spent 20+ years at an array of companies that cover both the width and breadth of the industry. Carl gained much of his technology experience at leading companies such as Bellcore (now Telcordia Technologies), Bell Atlantic and Nynex (both now a part of Verizon).

Carl’s diverse experience in technology spans the areas of Costing, Operations, Marketing, Regulatory, and Product Management. While at Nynex, Carl designed and managed the development of a carrier-grade softswitch billing mediation device, compatible with ILEC billing systems. At, Carl moderated the development of the CDR for Internet Telephony, which enables VoIP gateways to be used with carrier billing systems. During his time at Bell Atlantic Carl attended the renowned Quality College, learning to employ many of Philip Crosby’s recommended methods.

Carl’s technology experience along with his expertise in building a relevant, thought provoking conference program, makes him an invaluable asset to Crossfire Media.

Carl and his wife Bonnie reside in Fair Lawn, New Jersey with their daughters Nicole and Arielle and their steadfast, loyal and true dog Matty. He also has a daughter, Megan, from his first marriage. And though it has been some time since he last performed in an organized setting, Carl has been quite careful to maintain his barbershop quartet prowess.

Bob Hodgson

Bob has more than 20 years of experience in database marketing, data mining and advanced analytics to optimize marketing programs. He has been an innovator in enhancing the value of customer databases through the use of statistical analysis. He has managed market research firms, held senior positions at IDG and Lotus Development and served as the VP of Database Marketing for Key3Media where he developed strategies that generated over $55,000,000 in annual revenue.

Scott Kargman

Scott is the Chief Operating Officer of Crossfire Media. Before joining Crossfire Media, Scott held the position of COO and CFO for Pulvermedia. Scott was responsible for the company’s financial, investment and M&A activities, and he had overall operational responsibility for the company. In this position, Scott worked to form key strategic partnerships, oversaw all legal considerations for the company, managed 3rd Party fundraising efforts, and directed all negotiations as they relate to matters of Pulvermedia interest. And his experience in the role has been substantial as he previously held the same positions for a host of entities within the Pulver family of companies, including Vivox and Free World Dialup.

Prior to Pulvermedia, Scott served as Assistant Vice President of Finance at ARBED Americas Inc. where he oversaw the financial side of the company’s worldwide SAP implementation, was responsible for the monthly consolidation of all subsidiaries, devised all JV agreements, and worked to close strategic M&A transactions. Prior to ARBED, Scott was a staff accountant with KPMG in their New York office.

Scott has overall operational and financial responsibility for all Crossfire Media activities. An alumnus of St. John’s University, Scott received a BS in Accounting Magna Cum Laude from the school in 1993. In 2010, he received his Masters Degree in Engineering from Polytechnic University. He makes his home in Neponsit, New York.


Stephen Saber

Stephen was formerly President of CrossTech Partners and CEO of New Marketing Labs, which merged with The Pulse Network in the spring of 2011. Earlier in his career he was a managing director at Cambridge Technology Partners (CTP) – one of the fastest growing public IT Services companies. CTP became the leading IT consulting and systems integration firm focused on the deployment of client-server based business applications for Fortune 500 clients. Over the past 5 years, Stephen has played a leading advisory role in 4 major M&A transactions ranging from $30M to $450M in Digital Media and IT. He currently guest lectures in the entrepreneurship program at Babson College. Stephen received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and B.A. from Harvard University.

Joann Varello

Joann is the Marketing Director at Crossfire Media, with nearly 20 years of experience in the communications and technology sector in the areas of B2B marketing strategy development and implementation, sales, and audience/community development.

Prior to Crossfire Media, Joann was responsible for marketing, community development and the media partnership program for Pulvermedia, an integrated media and event company based out of New York. Joann forged and maintained all partner relationships with media and industry associations to facilitate attendee marketing for Pulvermedia’s International VON events.

Prior to Pulvermedia, Joann spent 13 years at Verizon Communications in various sales and marketing positions. As an Account Manager at Verizon, Joann was responsible for driving revenue from several major accounts including Chase Manhattan Bank, New York City Government and Columbia University. Additionally, Joann was responsible for managing day to day account management responsibilities for these major accounts. Joann also held marketing communications and sales support positions at Verizon.

Joann graduated from Ithaca College with a B.A. in Business and a minor in Marketing. She lives in Kings Park, NY with her husband Joe and their three children.
